White crystalline or crystalline powder with a slight characteristic taste and acidity.
Usage
1.It is often used as a food additive and flavour enhancer in the form of its salt, known as monosodium glutamate (MSG).
2.It is used in cell culture as a component of MEM non-essential amino acids solution.
3.It has been used as a nitrogen source in the culture of Aspergillus fumigatus NRRL 2436 for fumagillin production.
